Maybe tomorrow, but not tonight. Sorry. You want the spinning, easy Deku Baba, right; Not the one that lunges at you?

*Edit in*
Oh yeah, with your method, animated tiles don't work too well, do they?

Well, I found some time tonight and decided to do them. You've come up with a very nice trick here, after all. I dout that you can do animations with your trick, but I made the Deku Baba animate anyway. Perhaps in future releases of ZQuest, we'll be able to make animated, immobile enemies. Or maybe I don't know enough about switching combos (which I don't...). Or maybe someone wants to use the animation for another purpose. Anyway, it was easy to animate, so why not? The overworld palette only had one color of blue, so I used dark green as an accent instead. I am sure there are people out there who can make much better Deku Babas and thorn bushes than me, and I wouldn't be surprised if thorn bushes already existed. In any case, I'm giving you more options. If you do decide to use these, tell me.

The extras? Well, I made the leaves before the rest of the Deku Baba and you can't see all of it with the Deku Baba in front, so I left it in there. It also might be a nice undercombo. I have two versions: One for ease of viewing and other for ease of use in ZQuest.

Now don't feel pressured or anything to use these, I admit they could be better. Anyone else wanna give this a shot?

Those pirhana plants look... way too 2-dimensonal, dude. Remember that they player can always see a little of the TOP of what he's looking at- foreshorten them

And the thorny bushes- I'd focus on making the thorns more obvious. That just looks like grass.

Check it out now. That's probably the last version I'll do. It includes new versions and old ones. I completely remade the thorny shrubs (overlaying 3 different strands of thorns) and made the head of the Deku Baba spin around (most of the time lower on the sprite than before. The mouth is also viewed from more of a top-down perspective). Any modifications would be pretty easy from there. I have multiple versions showing the changes I made along the way to my final versions.

BTW: The freaky-looking plants are for using with Link's green palette. However, I do realize that it can't be used in a combo.

*Edit in* I just added an undercombo for the thorny shrubs, but it's not that great. Go ahead and change it if you decide to use these tiles if you need to.

In case you're wondering what all the white around its mouth is, it's saliva.

I have a different picture at home that shows even more saliva.

Much better.

Only comment now is that I like more "fat" sprites- look at FF style 16x16 sprites. Regardless of how the character looks, they get fattened to fill the square. Here, the plant's head could be fatter to accomplish that.

But this is getting more into personal preference. The thorn bushes are A-ok.

Looking pretty good so far..

As far as the view and the 'fattness' goes I envisioned something along the lines of this sprite I whipped up today:

I used the Zelda bush as a base for the leaves so it would fit in with the tileset and then I added the chompy guy. But you can see the perspective difference and the fattness of it. If I put this in my quest I would just pop this baby down and give it a 'Damage 2' combo. <<DON'T TOUCH THE PLANTS>> *LOL*

EDIT: I decided to make the leaves look a little less soft.

I don't even think any of those things you just proposed are possible, technically, except for the two-tall Deku Baba. Even that would only be possible using Secrets... right?

Bah... Tom you're so needy. Can't you be thankful for what you have and be happy for what little scraps of artistic genius I throw to you... :)

why do people keep saying my requests arent possible all i'm asking for are the tiles and the lunging is possible if you have a lot of animation for it

Why don't you explain how you're going to make the enemy function, or for that matter, incorperate a new item into the game (Deku Stick)?

Thanks, although I don't know how fearsome as stationary Deku Baba would be as a boss. ;) A fireball-shooting Deku Baba would be a challenge, though, and any Deku Baba become a threat if you put enough Blue Darknuts in a room. Hehe. I WOULD like to make a lunging Deku Baba. Now that would make a very good enemy or boss. :) But until I hear the method, I doubt it's possible.

But hey, I can't wait until I see these new stationary enemies of yours! :)

just use those linked combo thingymabobs you know like when the animation has finished it changes to a different one simple you can make nearly anything with this and for the deku stick well you can choose what to do with it you can make it a sword if you want its your choice
