Here (http://english.pravda.ru/mailbox/22/98/387/9859_woodpecker.html)

A couple of things:

First, I am rather liberal, but this was too liberal for even me. The point was skewed, but there were some interesting facts, such as:

It took September 11 for the West to open their eyes and to realise what a venomous creature that_ they have produced and so gladly nurtured.

Second, get a grammar check, lady. I mean, jeez.

There's a difference between opening our eyes to our own vulnerability and the assertation that our eyes were opened to our own villany.

The author of that article very clearly makes known the assertion that it all comes back to the USA's fault. Our fault for providing Iraq with biological agents, our fault in probably innumerable ways. It's a part of the argument popular with many in liberal circles which have close ties to socialistic thought that the United States and its "democratic" character, as well as free market system, is an evil entity which is the cause of most of the world's problems. I also note that the paper is Russian. I wonder if that means anything..

The problem with that is that it is blind to the good that the US has done, and to the noble intent and relatively high ground the United States sits upon. Is there corruption and problems within the United States? Certainly! Have there been times when the United States has acted out of line? Yes. But for a nation with the power and strength we have to do so much to aid other countries, including nations we have defeated and could have annexed into our "empire", for us to give of ourselves to other nations in need is highly admirable and unheard of. And if we were the kind of country some would like to say we are, then we would have and could have grabbed a lot more wealth, property, and power than we have.

I have no doubt that President Bush went into the continuation of the Iraq War with the full assurance that Saddam was a legitimate threat to other nations, including the US, and that they did have ties to al Qaeda, an organization that won't rest until the rest of the world is like them. And already the evidence of such is out there in support of all this.

And I firmly believe that we will cease to occupy whenever a government in in place, and I hope it's a government that will recognize what the US has done for it.

As for Sept 11, I agree that our eyes should have been open well before then. But we have to settle for hindsight now, and do what we must to prevent its reoccurance, regardless of what the whiners would say.
