So, i'm reading my favorite comic, RPG world, when I notice in an update that Penny Arcade had to pull down a comic(http://rpgworldcomic.com/ bottom update) because the makers of strawberry shortcake came down on them. I don't read Penny Arcade, but this intrigued me. I type in the uRL, and low and behold, the site's gone. This is sad. I really don't think they should have come down on them like that. It seems so damn cruel. It's not like they were huring their product.

Yeah, I jus retried it. It seems to be working. I guess it was a bandwith thing, but the fact remains that they had to take the comic down. Isn't there a law that says it's legal as a parody?

im not sure... Strawberry Shortcake was never depicted as a dominatrix though

i saw the comic, and it was funny as hell!! obviously whoever told them to take it down (American Greetings, methinks) apparently has NO sense of humor... :/

Heh, I was reading about this a few days ago -

From PA's News section
There is a pretty big thread over at Slashdot (http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/03/04/23/0336227.shtml?tid=153) regarding our current situation (http://www.penny-arcade.com/news.php3?date=2003-04-21) with American Greetings. There is lots of interesting stuff being discussed over there as usual. Also there is a petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/agcbyctt/petition.html) (a poorly spelled one) to Boycott everything American Greetings makes. Like any mega corporation though AG actually makes quite a bit of shit besides greeting cards. Trying to avoid their every product would actually I think prove rather difficult. Someone at Slashdot suggested not purchasing American Greetings cards for Mother's day and I think that is pretty smart. Between the two geek powerhouses that are PA and /. I think this would actually have some effect. I mean we are talking about hundreds of thousands of geeks not purchasing cards from them on one of their biggest days. Something to think about.

The /. Thread is in the quote and the PA thread is here (http://www.penny-arcade.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7133).
Quite a good read through if you ask me...

Also, Brian at Nuklearpower.com has said some things (http://www.nuklearpower.com/index.php) about it (the news entitled "04/23/03 - Corporate America is Dumb." if it's not at the top)

Show your support for PA - sign the pettition (http://www.petitiononline.com/agcbyctt/petition.html)!

And if you want to see the comic in question, you can find it here (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71317).

Some people still don't comprehend the magnitude of the power that internet geeks wield. By telling PA to take it down, they've started a chain reaction that will most likely ensure that the comic is seen by many, many more people than would have normally seen it if they'd just left well enough alone.

Yet another example that the American right to "freedom of expression" is being cruelly and systematically slaughtered.

Normally I wouldn't care, but this situation speaks to me... it says "STFU pitiful man with a joke". And folks, I live for making fun of things.

Most people at the PA forums apparently sent a lot of GOATSEX / Tubgirl pics. Oh the humanity...

Yeah. Let's give those morons a round of applause that they spread the word about their doll! American Greetings? HA! By greetings, they must mean trying to hide their doll's supersecret oversexuality, and they end up "greeting" everyone in the house. No, no, THE UNIVERSE!

Hey, hey, someone sign that AM chick up for hundreds of porn mailing lists.
