Some one told me that the Xbox doesn't have a processor fan and that if I were to play xbox for 8 hours straight (which I never do anyway) that my xbox motherboard would melt.

Does anyone know how true this is?:eyebrow:

I'd guess that would be a bunch of crap since I've heard of people hacking them and using them as webservers, which obviously need to be on for much more than 8 hours at a time.

My guess is that person doen't really know what they are talking about, I could be wrong though.

I've left mine on as long as 72 hours, and nothing

I don't think its possible for a 733mhz chip to function for 3 seconds without a fan, let alone 8 hours. I have a feeling this guy was talking out of his ass.

It's a lie. :O Xbox uses atleast one fan for sure.

There has to be a fan. Because if you left any system on for 3 days straight without it cooling, it would be known as one of 3 things: Steaming Puddle 2, GooCube, or XPOOL.

That's just because the CPUs run too hot. Believe it or not, you can leave a 68K running for a year with no cooling just fine. :O

Believe it or not, the PSX is a system too. It has no cooling fan. It can run for an extended period or time as well.

Don't think that the latest systems released are all that's out there. Cause the truth is far from that.

Imagine a metal cased system....play that for like 8 hours and pick it up.

Ouchie.

I did that with my SNES once. Even though it wasn't metal cased, It was still very hot.

Ussually the only melt on a system is for sheilding certain parts of the system or the frame.

No, the metal sheilding is to protect against interference and impacts.
