The new addition to the polls (being able to see who voted for what) got me thinking, and I think another option would be very nice. I think the author of the poll should be able to decide weither people can still vote after viewing the results of a poll. This way, if a person views the results, their vote won't be swayed by what other people think.

Anyway, do you guys like the idea? (don't peek before voting! ;))

That does seem like a good idea. I often find myself looking at results to see what other people think before voting. This would make room for more personal opinions while voting.

why not just use 'the honor system' to vote how you really feel. I've never checked who voted for what, and I didn't for this poll, either.

A pet peeve I have is for those who don't allow you to view the results before voting. What if you don't want to vote (or shouldn't because it doesn't apply to you) but still want to see the results? :p

Maybe I didn't make it clear. You can view the results, but if you do then you can't vote in the poll anymore.

<--can't read worth a damn.

Yeah, I realized what you said. I still don't like it though :p.

I think it sounds like a good idea, hey you shoul always be able to stand for your opinions regardless of what other people think and vote for.

If this can be added, it'd be cool. Make it an option when creating a poll, like the names display is. ;)

I like the idea. Personally, I never preview the results, but I might want a poll where I wanted to be sure others didn't.

I have another idea.. What about an option to change your mind? Not as good an idea as a 'No Peek Voting' rule, but it might have its use.

I believe other boards have this feature default, as I see it quite often.

If you really want to know how other people voted, just ask em. PLus, i remember seeing a poll where this was a reality, so I think the option exists already?

I think I like the idea, but I viewed teh results and saw that fewer people voted no so I voted no as well.

I say let people be sheep and followers if they want to.

I think a better hack than this would be the universally implemented "sort results by votes" putting that which has the most votes at the top, and the least at bottom, with the rest of the results organized within, like the "Style Statistics" if you click on the button bearing the same name at the bottom of the main page; I'm sure it can be implemented easily.
