Dudes and Dudettes, I need help with my tiles. I'm new to this. I got some bitmaps, but I don't know how to turn them into tiles. If anyone knows how to help, please contact me!!!!:odd:

*1) convert to 16 colors

*2) save as gif/jpeg (does bmp work?)

3) open ZQ

4) enter the tile screens

5) locate the location where you want the tiles

6) click grab

7) open your saved image

**8)select the tile you want and click ok

9) use your tile to create a game that everyone will play!

*) If your tiles can from some type of tileshop(The Tileshop, PureZC, ...) steps 1 & 2 can be skipped

Hope this helps!

**) you can select multiple tiles in the grabber by holding shift

Bitmaps work fine. If they're 16 colors, ZQuest reads them perfectly well.

ZC still reads bitmaps of 256 colors (And I THINK 24-Bit, as well). It just condenses the colors, so you'll lose the colors that would have been lost in the transition anyway. But ZC and Paint seem to have slightly different methods, so try them both out and see what works.

irfanview also does a good job of it.

ZC doesn't read anything over 256 colors. And using 256 colors isn't much good unless you've either got the whole palette set up for the BMP or plan on recoloring it.

And Jpeg's don't work at all.
