I'm surfing the net and I notice every website I go to has Japanese symbols in it's text. And i'm talking about 100% american sites. Is there some setting in my browser doing this?
Try going to Tools -> Internet options -> Languages button, and see what your settings are there. Or try changing your default font from the same window.

It could be that your browser is interpreting 2 bytes together as Japanese, when it isn't.. Dont' know much about Japanese/Chinese keyboard setup, but I do believe it's set up as 2 byte characters, due to the large number of them.
