Here is a gallery of screenshots from pre-release wc3. It is very interesting to see how much wc3 changed through development. I'm definately glad they didn't stick with the way things were at first, it looks cool, but it just wouldn't have felt enough like Warcraft.

here is an example of one of the early screenshots:

and, here (http://www.infoceptor.com/gallery/war3/gameshots/screenshot12.jpg)is another, linked for you dialup users. This one is a little bigger, but really shows what direction the game was headed in eventually.

I also remember reading there were 6 races originally, any speculation as what the other two races would be?

I would have liked WC3 to have the unit energy bars displayed always when units are selected. It's easier to tell who to heal that way.

some of those units look a bit more detailed.

It's a closer resolution. They changed the camera angle early on. Although if you use the mouse wheel, you can zoom in to something close to the original angle (could you imagine trying to play at that angle? :D)

I like to shift to that angle when my units are sacking my enemies base. It looks much more epic that way.

i know the camera angle but i can see the wrinkles in the riflemen capes and stuff. mott said it was set for higher quality.

That would make sense, considering at that time they were planning on having much less units on the screen at one time. I still don't really notice much of a difference in quality though..

Just look on the toolbar. It has health bars there.

ya but that's like, a whole few inches away from where the game is!

Well... duh.

But in the heat of battle its hard to rapidly heal units when you have to look back and forth from the toolbar to the map. I would love to have health on the map. Or even units that change appearance the more damaged they are, much like the buildings do. This would allow you to see which units needed healing without cluttering the screen with health bars. Plus, I'm sure it would look great too!

Silly rabbit! Just click heal on their faces. That's how I use Divine Light with a paladin. It heals them.
