...my archenemy, is blocking google.com. I took these screenshots at school, and mailed them to myself because there was no way at school that I could host it, but here they are. It's 1024x768, so I have a jpg and a gif (much smaller). They're the same picture, but in the gif some of the colors are a little bit off.

Google.gif (http://members.aol.com/tobiasdertypo/google.gif) (24kb)
Google.jpg (http://members.aol.com/tobiasdertypo/google.jpg) (88kb)

It allows you continue, but it insists that you use this page for work-related uses only. It annoys me very much that I have sometimes stumbled onto free porn sites (in English, not German. I've found plenty of unblocked German ones when I was looking) using the filtered connection, and it blocks Google.com (http://www.google.com), the most useful webpage in the world. It lets you use Yahoo! Mail without a message, AGN, and plenty of other sites that are far less useful for school purposes. And not Google.

Your school firewall is seriously fucked up.

i've got the same firewall at school, but a more outdated version. if it blocks the CATEGORY of "google" then someone custom-made that just to piss you off.

mine doesn't let you go to the site after, though.

just do a website translate from korean to english at altavista, lets the page through.

Thank you for that. Thats really going to help tomorrow... For some stupid reason the schools technology administrator has blocked some of the stupidest stuff... This should get me past it.

I made this a while back; it should still work:

-----------

FIREWALL-B-GONE:

In just these 4 easy steps, you can view pornography and other questionable materials through the schools firewall!

1. Visit the site:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

2. On the page, a text box reads "Translate a Web page - Enter the Web address of the page you wish to translate". Inside the text box, enter the web adress:

http://www.megaproxy.com

A pulldown menu next to the box has a listing of language translation pairs. Select Chinese to English and click on the button translate.

OR

After typing the web adress, hit Tab, C, Tab, Space/Enter.

3. A website will appear with a banner across the top for AltaVista.com. In the lower half of the screen, there is a text box. Below the text box there is a button that says "CLICK HERE to switch to a secure 128bit SSL mode."

Click on "CLICK HERE"

4. In the text box, enter the desired site for surfing, and click on the button "SURF"

A new window will pop up with a legal statement, and a button. Book mark the site for easier return access.

-----------

The only problem is, Megaproxy either changed the way that it works to a more advanced and incompatible way, or it found a way to block it. Websense, according to their site (http://www.websense.com) when I was looking at it a while back, they monitor outgoing requests for pages and reviews them (electronically or manually, not sure). It adds them to its blocklist the next day if the site is found to be "bad" and if it is "good" it is put on an ignore list or something like that. The old AGN.com was blocked because of ZC, so was boards.agn and forums.agn. AGN.net isn't blocked. Go figure.
