ANyone know a good program that isnt to large in size that can compress a large .jpg to a smaller .gif with out ruining the overall quality?

You could use Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. Not sure of many jpg to gif "only" converters that wouldn't ruin the quality of the picture...

Yeah I was DLing PSP and it took like 15 hours or so, but the instalation thing was messed up, I dont want to waste another large chuck of time on another messed up program... But it looks like Im gunna have to

I use a nice little program called IrfanView for converting, and I'm pretty sure it won't cause quality loss, unless the original JPG has a higher bit-depth than the GIF format can handle.

You can always go to the store and buy it, but I assume you're too cheap to do that. If you have resumeable download (i.e. Realdownload, then jasc.com is a good alternative and you can download a crack on Kazaa Lite or (I haven't really used this site, but I heard it's good) Astalavista.com (http://www.astalavista.com).

JPEGs can do 16 million colors, gifs can only do 256 colors, so unless your original JPEG only has 256 colors, you're going to loose quality no matter what.

btw, what do you need to convert it for?
