I'm trying to setup a pay for door repair charges room that isn't on screen 80. I placed the room type of door repair in the room that I want the player to lose money in, but when I test it, it doesn't work. The guy is set and there's no strings...

What am I doing wrong?

Did it work in room 80? I thought any cave/room has to be in room 80 only.

Did you set the amount for the repair fee?

I haven't use screen 80 since 1.90...and yes, the amount is set.

i can't figure out how to make guy/cave rooms work in ANY room but screen 80. i have the same problems as you teilyr.. i set it all up and only the guy appears, or only the string appears, or nothing appears. it's a major pain in the ass when trying to make cutscenes.
although, it works just fine if i set it up in a room link has to walk to. :shrug:

edit: if you figure it out, teilyr, will you give me a PM or post up how you did it? at the moment i've got all my storyline/intro set up in a cave room, and it's rather dry :( i tried to make some nice little entertaining cutscenes, but dammit, it always fucks up on me!:cry:

Then which screen is for your cave/rooms, Teilyr?
Did you try other screens like 82, 83, 84, etc?

Try setting the lever number to something other than 0, "Slappy." :spin: :laughing:

Aww heck. Don't worry about it. We all had that problem. ;) Even on my 3rd quest, (Attempt at one, anyway.) I couldn't figure that out. It's not something that's easy to see, you know.

Yeah, I had that problem too. But I don't anymore, and that's all that really matters to me.

It's a common mistake, don't feel bad. With a couple of mistakes you'll eventually get used to changing your level number whenever you make a new DMap.

Also note that overworlds will place anything like repair rooms, shops, and item rooms in Screen 80 caves, rather than the surface. All other dmap types will place the guy on the surface of the screen. (Not quite sure about BS overworld. I'll test this out.)

/me mutters..

The level dmap is 1.. I'm not that newbieish.

The room is entered via insta-tile warp, as it's part of a sequence. Having it not work is not an option.

Did you try other screens like 82, 83, 84, etc? Any screen I feel like using. I place them where ever's there's room.

The door repair room seems buggy. Can't work in screen 80s or in different lvls/dmap types in any screens.

Hmm...odd...seems like a bug to me.
