View Full Version : Source code to Duke Nukem 3D released!

w00t! It was released! On April 1st, no less...which of course caused many to think it was fake...but it's real!

Now Duke 3D can experience the same revival as Doom has, with source ports and the like! I'll finally be able to play it on my Win XP machine!

Wow, this is some great news. Now if I can learn programming I might just follow through on all those great Duke ideas I had back in the day...

I bet it will be ported to Linux within weeks (maybe even sooner) :D

I also have Windows XP and my Duke3d atomic adition works fine! Did you try messing with the compatability settings?

I post at the 3D Realms forums and I've noticed some people are already half done with linux ports, and one guy already had an XP port done. Pretty rad stuff.

Indeed, there are already playable ports for the respective platforms.

This is really great. Anything opensource is cool (especially since it is free). But wow, I can't wait to see what happens to duke 3d. :)

This is indeed AWESOME news. Ever since the evilness of Windows XP graced computers around the world (including mine) I have missed out on my Duke 3d experience. Finally I can play it again. Sure that Windows port is just terrible right now, but it will improve with time.
