Over at PureZC there's a nice little marvel called Metroid: SR-377 by some guy called PolygonX8. It's for ZC version 1.90 (http://www.purezc.com/index.php?page=quests&quest=44), but easily plays on higher versions, and is really good -- not just really good for a 1.90 quest. The graphics are completely redone and are outstanding. I would recommend it for all Metroid fans!

Yes, all of PolygonX8's quests are good. I especially liked the Link to Darkness series.

We have 5 I think from him over on the completed section at ZCN :) I liked the look of the quest as well.

Ah Yes I've heard of this quest and I'm playing it right now. I need help getting to level six. I still can't get across the lava.

I found that quest a few days ago. (Er.. it's 3/28/03 now. ) I ripped the midis from it. They have some fan-frikin-tastic midis. They have the jawdroppingly beautiful Crateria theme from Metroid 2. I would hang that up on my wall if I could.

They also have the DK2 Rambi's Rumble Midi. That is phenominal boss music.

The Graphics are very well done too, as it has been mentioned. :) I love how he included the little item platform in the standard item place. It shows real attention to detail.

Now, is this person on AGN too?

Hmm. I've just gotten through Level Two and I don't know where to go next. I'm not sure what the fire with the "SC" does.

If you need help I gues you could look at the quest. It is unpassworded

Wow, so it is. I never would've guessed. I hope he didn't want it secure and forgot to give a password.

ya, I know what you mean. Looking at the tiles though the enemies are fantastic! and in classic pallettes! I think the metroid enemy tiles look wonderful.

Indeed, everything does. This is what I call a "total conversion," meaning every graphic changes to display a theme, and when done well total conversions rock. I managed to find the way forward to levels 3 and 4 (after a break). Unpassworded or not, no one should have to resort to inside tinkering, especially seeing as there are two ways to proceed after level 2. Let the player discover the quest's clever tricks.

does it go off playing like a real metroid though?

Ehhh... it's rather close. Of course, side-scrolling and gravity are absent, but it feels a lot like a "top-view" Metroid despite that the game had to be made with a Zelda engine. It's not far off.
