Did anyone else take the AIME today (American Invitational Math Exam)? I had to miss three hours' worth of classes to take the test, so I wasn't too upset. ;) I didn't do very well, however; of the 15 questions, I only answered 8, and since calculators were forbidden I'm sure at least two of those eight were incorrect due to computational errors.

I answered 6 and am pretty sure I got 5 right. Go me!
I was told that the average number of correct answers was only 2 or 3, so 5 is pretty damn good for just a sophomore.

Indeed, it is very damn good. As a sophmore, I didn't even qualify.
Do you know when/where they will post the correct answers? For the record, here were my answers:
1. 839
2. 301
3. 484
4. 012
5. 553
6. 348
7. 064
9. 615
I didn't answer 8 and 10-15.

Nope, just a regular school day. And how did you remember the answers?

We get to keep the questions. At last, that's what our math teacher told us...
In any case, everyone in the US had to take the test at the same time, so the possibility of cheating is minimal.

#1, #2, #4, #6, and #9 I got the same answers. #3 I know I got wrong.

I also neglected to put down 64 for #7. Stupid. I left the answer lying there on the paper because I wasn't sure if there was possibly another one. Then I forgot about it at the end of the test...

Well, I wasn't too sure about that either, but 6, 8, 10 is the only Pythagorean triple with leg of 6 that I've ever heard of...
Any idea how to do 8 or any of the last 6 problems? 8 and 10 especially frustrated me; I answered the eight question above in the first hour, and spent the next two banging my head over the others.

I know nothing about geometric processes, so 8 is out. I couldn't figure out 10 either. I constantly had the feeling that I should know, but meh.

I was kinda close to done with 13; I had figured out all the numbers up to 2047, but I couldn't figure out how many of the 44 between that and 2003 had more 1's than 0's. Ran out of time.

I started some random guessing for 14, but never got anywhere.

The rest I don't think I even bothered with.

Oh yes, and the teacher said he'd have the answers by tomorrow.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed; since you concurred with many of my answers, though, I feel a little more relieved.
Although, even if I didn't screw up any of the 8, 8/15 is not that stellar of a score... not good enough for the USAMO.

So you got to keep the questions, right...? What were they?
