Must be the site of blood that's awakened the murderous instincts in them. They are, after all, the spawn of convicts...

Wow... Bush is up by 19% in 10 days, to 70. I'm suprised it has jumped that much considering that there have been losses due to Iraqi foul play ("All's fair in love and war") like disguising a division as civillians and hiding the army with civillians. Actually, such underhanded tactics might be what is convincing the world that Saddam is a bad motha fucka and has to go.

Actually those statistics are misleading. The support is for our troops not for the war.

"Support for military action against Saddam Hussein has reached 50 per cent after large reversals in the thinking of women, younger people and ALP supporters."

That might be how they wrote it but the support is for the troops not the action. I do live in the country, I do see the different polls, I have taken part in some of the polls and I have also seen the questions asked in the polls. I am also a woman and an ALP supporter.

Well you aren't the only woman in Australia and you don't speak for everyone. Can you point me to news articles that contradict the one I posted? (that are of the same date of course, to reflec the new change)

These surveys were conducted on the telephone, by trained interviewers in all states of Australia and in both city and country areas. Telephone numbers and the
person within the household were selected at random. The data has been weighted to reflect the population distribution. The latest survey was conducted on the
weekend of 21-23 March 2003 and is based on 1200 interviews among people aged 18 years and over. Copyright at all times remains with NEWSPOLL. More poll
information is available at www.newspoll.com.au

or you can find the link to it here (http://newspoll.com.au/cgi-bin/display_poll_data.pl?mode=file&page=Search&limit=10&order=date)

And if you will notice 1200 people were polled and 45% were in favour not 50% and only 24% were strongly in favour.

The question seems to be asking whether or not they support the war, and not just the troops Mander. And toss out the undecided, and you'll find half the country with an opinion support it.

Not that the popularity of an action justifies anything. The stated grounds for this war are the national security of freedom-loving nations, and the humanitarian cause for the Iraqi people, in particular the Shiite Muslim majority, and the Kurdish people of the north. The grounds of this war is not "Most of the world thinks it's a good idea."

Actually I was referring to the general feeling rather than that particular poll. Why I posted that poll was because the paper didn't report it correctly.
