I read somewhere that you can add "-windowed" to zquest and it will open in a window. My problem is what file do I add this to? I cannot seem to find a code file where you would add this.

Not to zquest, but to Zelda whatever version you want to play.
You rightclick on the icon on your desktop, you click on properties and you add "-windowed" to the target. Then save of course.:)

That tells me the target file does not exist. I use the dos prompt.

What version are we talking about?
And if you're not using the windows version, why do you want it windowed?

Here's what you do...create a shortcut to zelda-w.exe or zquest-w.exe (NOT zelda.exe or zquest.exe). Right click the shortcut, choose "properties". In the properties, make sure the "shortcut" tab is selected. You should see a field that says something like:
Target: "C:\ZCbeta\zelda-w.exe"
Now, add a space, and then -windowed after the quotes, like this:
Target: "C:\ZCbeta\zelda-w.exe" -windowed
Now, whenever you click on that shortcut it should come up windowed. If you want to run it full-screen, just use a different shortcut, or click on zelda-w.exe directly.
If you want to know all the command line options for ZC, check the pinned topic ZELDA and ZQUEST command line options (http://boards.armageddongames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67489).
I never knew about that! *smacks self on forehead*

If you use the DOS Prompt, type ZQUEST-W -windowed
Replace ZQUEST-W with ZELDA-W for playing quests.
