ftp not working for my comp...

Ever since my dad installed net nanny, i can't hook up to any other site using ftp INCLUDING MY OWN DAMN SITE! Is there a setting i have to change? or perhaps #### up?

I'm willing to bet that net nanny thing is blocking the FTP port. See if you can change it.

It's like a parental lock thing restricting your access to sites containing "strong language". Parents install that to prevent you from accessing porn sites, but it messes up lots of safe sites in the process.:shrug:

i hate that kind of software... but... you can easily fix it by going to start/settings/controlpanel/add remove programs. and then select net nanny. ^_^ btw. why would your dad do such an evil thing? did you do something... BAD?! =0

they are paranoid, and i can't just go to uninstall it. i'm on XP on a restricted non-admin account. and it doesn't block some po rn sites. i went to them. then i went looking for music from games, and it started blocking those. What the hell is up with that?

for some reason it won't let me type out po rn all the way either. see?

www.peacefire.com <-- try going to this site for more information about net-nanny style software. However, it is also probably blocked by net-nanny itself so you either have to view it from another computer or try to disable it.

To disable it, type Ctrl-alt-delete, and end the Process 'wnldr32'

You're right. it is blocked by net nanny. it haulted the page download.

edit-> that process must be hidden because i can't find it. i am running xp so it must be running it as a hidden administrative process.

Dude, I had to get an article from that site for my comp class. If you went to that site prior to installing any of those programs, like Net Nanny or Bess, then it will give a fake error and will not install. So when you get your new pc, if you do, go to pe@©e.©0/\/\ That'll keep you safe. ;)

Some hilarious things i found are: if you are on after the time designated to have you kicked off, mine is 10:00, if you keep IE on, you can stay on all night untill your alotted time is up. If a page doesn't show up, click refresh a million times till it does. I tried it, it worked Perfectly. i can still go to p0rn sites as well. i just need a way to hack into net nanny to override ftp ####. And also try to get cussing to work again.
