My dad wants to put it onto the computer. He thinks i spend too much time on the computer, but what else do i have to do? He lives in a different town my mom does so i have no friends here, i don't have my skates or my board, and i don't have many things here. I can't go outside to do much, nothing to do really... So i fuck around on the computer, besides we are moving in a couple of months anyway.

Does anyone know exactly what net nanny is?

i heard it blocks porn site,
limits time on the computer and net...

man, if this blocks sites with cusses on it, i won't be able to come here or to my own site! If it does anything i don't like, i want a way around it...

Why dont you just delete it?? Or is it not that easy??

it is based on a password system - if you were to uninstall it, you would need a password.

My only thought is to download a hidden copy of netscape on your computer, and go from there.. good luck.

hmmm, well, the computer is running xp. I think it limits access to the accounts, i have to get around it without uninstalling it.

Try doing what Ganonator said. You could also just delete the thing directly, or just boot up Windows in Safe Mode, then delete in.

Fear not. I made this a while back and it works on some/many firewalls:

FIREWALL-B-GONE:

In just these 4 easy steps, you can view pornography and other questionable materials through the schools firewall!

1. Visit the site:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

2. On the page, a text box reads "Translate a Web page - Enter the Web address of the page you wish to translate". Inside the text box, enter the web adress:

http://www.megaproxy.com

A pulldown menu next to the box has a listing of language translation pairs. Select Chinese to English and click on the button translate.

OR

After typing the web adress, hit Tab, C, Tab, Space/Enter.

3. A website will appear with a banner across the top for AltaVista.com. In the lower half of the screen, there is a text box. Below the text box there is a button that says "CLICK HERE to switch to a secure 128bit SSL mode."

Click on "CLICK HERE"

4. In the text box, enter the desired site for surfing, and click on the button "SURF"

A new window will pop up with a legal statement, and a button. Book mark the site for easier return access.

This does not work on net access limiting, only on filtering. Various other solutions exist; http://www.loopholesoftware.com has anti-filtering/monitering software for a price. You can probably find a registration key on Kazaa or a registered version. A website with information regarding firewalls, how they work, and why they suck is here, http://www.sethf.com/anticensorware/bess/loophole.php.

I spend a lot of time on a school network with Websense (http://www.websense.com) and most of the information is indispensible or useful at the very least. If you download the Google.com search toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com) it adds an option on your right click menu as "Translate Page" which avoids censorship but does not allow you to post or submit some forms of modification. It presents a read-only version of the page.

As for the web limiting, I'd have to know how the program works. The simplest solution is to explain to your dad how sometimes you leave the computer online overnight to finish downloading large files, and explain that the software isn't necessary and is counterproductive to normal net use.

Control + Alt + Delete, end process. If that doesn't work get a program that can edit other process's memory, such as a universal game trainer, and corrupt the entire program in memory so it crashes.

Using Control Alt Delete definatly woulden't work, at least with Cyber Sitter anyway. I think most programs these days are hidden from operation. There are other protective measures too, such as blocking the Windows registry editor, overriding you when you take the program off of startup, and more.

Or Shadowblazer could install a swear filter that can be set by the CP to turn all bad words in a list to some other word like LightingZ-wait, that would have to be filtered too.

You have to admit that sometimes looking at all those cuss words can bring down your spirits.

Well.....no.....I can be flamed all I want and not give a rat's ass. Perhaps it could be an option in user preferances to enable word filtering.

You can also try using https://www.armageddongames.net for the browsing. I heard that works too.

Sorry, I meant user CP, I don't want to take away people's right to cuss. As for flaming, a mod or admin would see it and give the warnings. As for not caring, maybe that is a good thing to do anyway so that the person doesn't get encouraged to flame more(onically).

I tried Megaproxy, and I was impressed. For about 10 minutes, that is, until it told me that I had exceeded my daily bandwidth, and would not let me use it again. What caused that? Does it simply do it after you've viewed a set number of webpages?

Heh, now I may have to find a loophole for this loophole. ;)

Windows XP and Win2k WILL show all running processes, atleast if you have admin rights. Either way though, you can easily use a memory editor to crash the program yourself.

mottzilla is correct...

cntrl alt del brings up Window Task manager, click processes, end 'progname.exe'... bam, gone... im assuming you would need to be signed in as the comp admin, but i never had any other reason to have more than 1 account on this comp anyways\

i lub xp ;)

XP however, has crappy DOS emulation sadly. -_- But it is good-for-something. Try hacking the admin password, if you can.

Keystroke loggers can find out passwords. Search downloads.com (http://www.downloads.com) for keyloggers and such. [url=http://www.sethf.com/anticensorware/bess/loophole.php] This site has a list of other alternatives to Megaproxy and such. I've never gotten the bandwidth error, the only drawback I've had from it is the inability to accept cookies.
