Just got the game. Let me just say that the fun factor in this game is quite big. I mean, what is NOT fun about sailing across a whole canyon doing some crazy stunt that would probably get you killed in real life. It's not Tony Hawk 4-fun, but it's damn close.
There are a few race types to choose from. There are National races, which are outdoor racecs on a track and are generally cut and dried. Then, there is Supercross, which are in stadiums, and require more precise driving. Then, Enduro races, where you blaze a trail across a map in order to beat the crowd to the next checkpoint. Finally, the Freestyle courses (or stunt quarries, as veterans of Motorcross Madness call them) maps are the most fun, screw around as much as you want thrashing tricks left and right on an open ended course.
There are neat multiplayer games too, like ATV hockey (!) and Tag.
What I was rahter disappointed by, however, was internet play. It seems to be simply tacked on at the last minute. First of all, there is no chat keyboard, it simply requires you to type messages by using up and down to select a letter. What a drag. Whats more, you can't do anything else after playing internet without reseting the PS2. Or if your connection is dropped. When you're actually in the game, it's pretty lag-free, and it's nice to be playing against other people instead of some AI, but I just cant help but think that it could have been something more.
But it's 39 bucks. So I'm not complaining.
