Wow, that helps, with all the beeps, Bwees, and crap I hear all day, that helps alot.

I don't have any sort of beep when I turn on my comp or TV.

I never hear it, and I was being serious King of all something or other.

None of the TVs at my house have that problem, but there's an old one at my grandparents' house that does that. It's pretty darn loud too.

i also have this seriously whacked perfect hearing. I remember in math class when the teacher does the test for it, I was always the first to have to leave, it was so bad (and that was something at like 18000 hz)... ack

There's not a TV I've seen that doesn't make that noise, at least when it turns one. I had one TV right before it got really bad it made a really painful "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" about 5 times louder than most TVs. Anyone who can't hear it has bad hearing.

I do indeed know what you are talking about and I must say, that noise is possibly on of the most annoying noises I have ever heard in my life.

I think the frequency for that sound is like 18,000 Hz. It's just on the edge of human hearing(supposedly 20,000 Hz). Many people cannot even hear 18,000. I think when I tested it with my Lego Mindstorms RCX, I topped out at like 22,000, but I don't think I was really "hearing" it at 22,000; it was more like "feeling" it.

I can do something similar, sometimes where I can tell if a phone is going to ring a split second before it does by hearing the capacitor charge up(or the speaker getting primed or something similar). I did it once and everyone in the room freaked out. I heard this really loud high pitched noise and instantaneously said "phone" and right after I got done saying it it rang.

Though, I'm not reliable at this and It's almost impossible to do on demand... though with enough training... * goes off to have his friends call him at random intervals *
