Okay, back in the days of 32 midi slots, you merely put the Ganon music in slot 32 and it'd automatically play during the battle with Ganon, now in beta 183, its no longer able to do so. And I get dead silence when playing against him. Any hints on how to re-enable the Ganon music in the latest beta during the battle with him?

Try the very last midi slot - that would be my guess.

And wouldn't this cause issues with older quests? There should be a value under the init data that specifies which midi to use, and when converting older quests it could default to midi 32. This way there would be no compatability issues.

the info about that slot should be in the tutorial or something. If I would have known that, i would have fixed it so i didn't have to switch D-Maps on it...

okay, I figured it out, it now defaults to midi slot 252 (the very last one) to use for the Ganon boss battle music. So yes, Cloral, this DOES cause issues in existing quests which use slot 32 for Ganon music. This is a bug and a problem.

should be simple enough to remedy. ZC (and perhaps ZQuest) could be made to copy MIDI 32 into 252 if the quest version is old. Or just to use midi 32 directly.

The copying method would be better, as Midi 32 would cause confusion for the newbies, because they would wonder "Why 32? That's such a weird number!" Or something..

Well, I only meant for old quests, which are no longer being edited/updated. ZQuest wouldn't do anything, you'd just have to put the MIDI in the last slot yourself. But for a quest with an old version number, when ZC (the game engine, not the quest editor) opens it, ZC could copy the midi over.

yeah, as it stands, I must edit all my quests to make sure they have the ganon music set up correctly. Takes abuot 2 mins per quest, not a big deal, true, but for newbies, could take forever to figure out.

How about this idea: ZC/ZQ move the midi in slot 32 to slot 252 and automatically redirect all dmaps that use midi 32 to use 252 instead?

I have a better idea: Implement that secondary d-map midi function so bosses don't have to go on another d-map.

That or whatever works.

yes, but before releasing it in the next beta, test to make sure it work by opening any old quest made in a earlier beta and saving it in the new beta and then playing the ganon battle.

how about an option in the midi list called 'Ganon' music. Even could have a 'boss midi' option, and in the Screen Data dialog a 'Use Boss Midi' screen flag

just a thought.

That's actually a damn good idea Ganonator.
