altadd, dark world help

I entered the dark world, but I can't find the cross.
There are 2 levels I can enter. One needs a crystal to let me in and the other (in 2 parts) seems to need some items I don't have to let me go further. The only pit there takes me back to the beginning.
They are not numbered, so I'm not even sure they are levels
I beat a 4 headed Gleeok that yielded nothing...
I'm stuck, help me please

Where is the ladder. I've asked this question a lot but can't get an answer. I got the raft in lv3 where someone said the ladder was. I can't go anywhere else without it. Thanks for helping.

The ladder is in the top left room in level 4 (you are there I presume) You have to push a block down

Found the ladder and got the triforce. Was there anything else I should have gotten in lv4. The old man said to look in the dungeons for the "other" sword. Also I need a better shield. Haven't seen one in the shops.

You must go back to level 2 where you need the raft to get to the sword upgrade

As for the shield, you have to wait for level 5, you're almost there
