ugg.. i hate ZC when it doesn't work. Luckily, I have plenty of resaves and backups.. that have the same problem.

Ok.. J:R is taking a turn for the worse. Everything was really peachy.. really peachy. Then, I decided to implement some large chests that were boss lock blocks.. remember, peachy. I put them in, and, low and behold, when i resave to play an existing save, i get this error

Error Loading jr.qst:
New Quest version; please restart game
c:\ZCBeta192b182\jr.qst

so i figure, what the hell.. i'll just do what it says

so i start a NEW save file, and to my dismay, no go. Obviously this has something to do with Boss Lock Blocks and Boss Lock Block 2s and it don't like it, man. So then, i do something stupid, and save OVER my backup file.. good work soldier.

the catch is that I can still use ZQuest like there's no problem.. me thinks there are some compatibility issues w/ the two, ZQuest and ZPlayer 182...

I'm on zelda-w.exe, WinXP, not that THAT makes any difference

thanks in advance

Usually you get that message when you change the minimum quest version in the quest header to something higher than the version you started the save file with.

Are you sure all you did was mess around with boss lock blocks? That's really strange if you did.

yes - because I DID start a new save file, and I'm still having this problem. Sucks...

Well, it would keep giving you that error if the Min version number was set higher than Quest version. Check Quest->Header to make sure that isn't the case.

Now we head into a two way path:

If the Min. quest version is higher than the quest version (or has a letter), please remove that letter and make it a decimal. I had to do that with one of my quests and that fixed.

If it is not the case:

1. Check if it is in the same folder as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quests.

2. Make sure you did not upload a quest from 182 to play in betas 163 or later.

3. If none of these work, try finding out what is interferring the quest to play on ZC itself. Sometimes I did this and it worked, but this is only for a last resort. :pirate:

ok.. you guys are gonna think this is crazy, but it really is, so.. err.. anyway

in the 'min quest version' part, there was nothing, a whole lot of spaces, and then a set of quotes. " <-- that's it. i have no idea where this came from, because i hadn't even touched the header for about 2 months. Ever since i put in those BLBs has this happened. thank GOD it works... no more lost data.
