Some of you probably remember the last part of Bionic Commando for the plain old NES (still a cool game, BTW). There were a few rarities in that part of the game alone that would have had some parents throwing fits. Here's why:

1. Master D bears a striking resemblance to the notorious Adolf Hitler (references to Naziism).

2. Master D says something like "You still want to fight me? You damn fool." (swearing.)

3. Later, when you fire the Super Bazooka into the cockpit of Master D's helicopter, you actually get to see his head explode. I actually thought this was really cool, but still, it's graphic violence.

It's not that I'm offended by any of this (Like I said before, the exploding head part was sweet), but I just want your opinions on this.

Go play GTA 3, or GTA Vice City. I'm pretty sure if they were allowed to be released, the word 'damn' isn't gonna upset anyone, and a NES head-explosion can't be near as graphic as Chainsawing someone's arm off on the Ps2

Master D IS Adolf Hitler. In japan there were swastikas instead of those eagle symbols. They translated his name as Master D and changed the swasikas (and a few other things I'm sure) here because I suppose they thought people would be offended..

Strider was pretty gory (For an NES game). If you attack someone, they don't explode in a puff of smoke. Instead, they disappear with blood flying out. (I'm pretty sure, anyway. I haven't played the rom in a while)

Obviously. But my point is that this was back when video games were supposed to be somewhat pure. The only games that I can think of with any questionable material back then are Bionic Commando, Strider, and Ninja Gaiden 2.

"Custer's Revenge" has everything offensive: Sex, Racism, Cruelty, and Raw Humor... This is the worst game for the Atari 2600...

 That's hillarious!! I guess that makes the last leg of Bionic Commando look innocent. You've definitely made a point there, Dracula.

Actually, the enemies in NES Strider just explode. You might be thinking of Strider for the Genesis and Arcade; some of the more organic enemies do die in a splash of blood in that game.

Then there was the splatterhouse games, though very stupid,(but fun) they were one of the most gory games, along with Mortal Kombat, hmm spine ripping fun.

And Warlock is right... The jap version is also more difficult then the american by way of added enemies and different item placement.

This is without a doubt my all time fav for NES games challenged of course by Z2 that is.

Come to think of it, I remember the arcade version of Battletoads being fairly gory as well (let alone completely different). Mr. Cow, I haven't seen anything wrong with Contra (although I've never played any of the next gen. Contra games, so I could be wrong).

EDIT: I had the sudden urge to play Bionic Commando today. Watching Master D's head explode is the just as relaxing as a warm, clear summer night. :D
