So I applied to be a game tester at Microsoft and they accepted my application.

Today one of the MS people calls my house and starts interviewing me for the position. She's asking me TONS of questions about what systems I own and how many hours a week I play. Then she starts asking about games. This is where it went downhill.

Every game she asked about was a platformer a la Mario Sunshine, Jax and Dexter, Blinx, Crash Bandicoot etc. I hate platformers and I never play them because they bore the piss out of me. So she stops and says "We're sorry, but we're looking for gamers with a different profile."

Fortunately, she said they'd put me on their "testers" list and would call me for future sessions. So I think I'll still get to do it, just not right now.

Anyway, stupid platform games.:angry:

the only way to get on is to lie about how many hours you play each game. say around 10 hours on each game and you will get on. they will call back in a couple weeks or a month. dont worry.
ive heard "We're sorry, but we're looking for gamers with a different profile." so many times but know i know the that they look for around 10 hours on each game.

well, the thing is, I don't need to lie. I mean, I play a lot of video games. I just don't play platformers, so I got shafted this time around.:)

How...how...how...how....no...not fair...no...how??!!!!

How do you get to be a game tester or a beta tester for anything that has to do with fun? How!! I've been wanting to be one for years but I always thought I had to live in Cali or NY. Do I have to live there or close to those powerhouse states?

I'm counting on my luck, wisdom, intelect, and nice personality to get into the gaming industry, or digital arts which could lead me into the gaming industry.

eh, I live really close to Microsoft headquarters, so it's not hard to find openings.

That sucks.. you'd think if they accepted your application they could at least fit you in to play games you enjoy.. I'm sure there are plenty of ppl who like platformers enough to cover that section.. Oh well I guess.

they accept all applications but you pass the phone call interview before you can go in. i live about an hour and a half away from microsoft so that is how i can do it.

dude... go with EA (Electronic Arts, EA Sports, Maxis, etc.), way better than microsoft
