How much RAM do you have? The :"ALLOCATING DATA BUFFERS ERROR" usually means you don't have enough RAM.

FIRST, DON'T TYPE IN ALL CAPS. IT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.

Secondly, run ZQuest before running zelda.exe, this should create the files ZC is looking for.

I think that ZC requires at least 40 MB of RAM.

according to XP, Zelda-w.exe for 163 uses 26,172K of memory (about 25MB) and Zquest-w.exe uses 33,363K of memory (about 33MB) when I'm working on J:R... I'd tell you the usage for 1.90, but obviously it dicks up my comp cause its XP.

EDIT: replaced 23MB for 33MB.. i was tired, and it was late:D

8MB.... I thought it was 16MB.... I used to run 190 on a 16MB computer. Try to place ALL your ZELDA CLASSIC FILES in ONE FOLDER.... ALL OF THEM. That can fix strange problems....

Ram isn't so expensive. I managed to upgrade from 64 to 256, with no real problems. I've got a PII 300 MHZ, 256 MB ram. (Now. )

And 163 runs just fine, except in those "massive layers on layers" scenes.
