With the dragging up of a topic recently, I am wondering if we could add in an automatic timeout of polls say, 30 days after the last reply, and it could prevent any more dragged up topics from long ago surfacing without an obvious culprit.

it would help keep the older topics from like 10 months ago from being voted on...

it would also help if people put a number of days for the poll to expire, or just set 30 as the default...

good idea though

Good idea. Another thing that might work is one that prevents new votes after the poll has hit a certain page number (even if it's brought back up with a reply, leave the poll expired).

Page number wouldn't be as effective in slower forums like ASWGL. Week old topics are (were, now but usually it's are) on the front page.

Isn't "Would you Fuck Moocow" still on the front page, and that's bout a month old. It seems like a good idea, but it would have to be different for each forum.

It could be a hack set by the Moderator(s) of each individual forum. I think "Permanate lock [insert number here] days since last post" would be most effective when applied unilaterally, allowing for "Wanna fuck moo?" threads, and preventing the dragging of topics from long long ago.

that wouldn't be necessary. if a topic got revived and the discussion was continued (with a poll), voters should still be able to vote.
