If you get a message saying that ZC 1.92 perfomed an illegal opperation then try going to the Control Panel (under the start menu and settings), and then selecting display. Click on the settings tab, and then click on advanced. Click on the Performance tab and then try slowing the hardware accelleration. You will need to restart your computer and once it boots back up try ZC again. That might fix the problem.

[Edit]- This may also work for Zquest if you get a similar message.

Hopefully this will fix that problem for some people.

Listen to this guy he knows what he is talking about. This is how I got Zquest to work. Try it.

The only problem with this fix is that if you have any other games you like to play, you may need to put it back at the original setting for it to run correctly.

Could someone pin this topic?

Slowing down the hardware acceleration has worked for me on a lot of programs, especially for the playstation emulator called Bleem! but it skips a little bit which means I need a faster computer thats affordable. All I have is a 300 Mhz speed 60Mhz ram 2GIG? HD space. What do you all recommend?

Why would you want to disable hardware accel? That's not a great idea. I get illegal ops in ZC now though, I might try it sometime if I have time, although it's just a work around. The real problem appears to lie within allegro.

The reasons I double posted: 1-It had been several days since I last posted in this topic (why are the dates off?), and 2-editing the post would not put it at the top of the list of topics, and it was on the third page of topics.

I'm not sure why disabling the hardware acceleration works on problems like this, I just know it does.

It's probably because of some hardware conflict with allegro. By doing software rendering it probably gets around it.

Alright, now I have a question. Will this help with my Ripped Z3 Sounds problem? A massive error message is displayed every time I try to use them, no matter the conditions of virtually anything that I'm doing. So I'm hoping that there's something, somewhere that can help.

If the Z3 sound set fails yet original doesn't, likely the sfx.dat you have is damaged, OR, maybe you have a soundcard isssue with allegro.

I'm not sure about that, but I know it may help you to run ZC if the program itself is giving you trouble. After I ran ZC several times, I can now use it with hardware acceleration on, does this happen for anyone else?

Maybe it's got something to do with debug being on when it was compiled?

Edit: I just tried using ZC Windows 1.92 Beta 163, it crashes illegal op. Yet, Beta 176 ran just fine. Another sign a new version is overdue. ;p
