MGS2 help

Last time I player through MGS2, I got through this part, now I play it and I get stuck on this one little bit. It's got me stumped.
Here is a screenshot of my position, just after the first boss -

Not the game you thought it would be eh?

EDIT - A wlakthrough I have says to attack them, I have used all my gun ammo, sub-gun ammo, 5 chunks of C4 and 15 grenades to no effect ( I also punched it for a fe minutes)....

I knew that, I just put MGS2 to confuse people as i was kinda bored as well ;)
