But I can't without open GL drivers.

My Graphics card is labled as 'Rage pro turbo AGP 2x' and I need Open GL drivers that will work in XP/NT.

Can anyone help?

Try searching on this page for your driver: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

I found a driver from there that fit the specs I was looking for, Tried it, Nothing seemingly changed. I open Q3A, I can navigate, but if I try to change the resolution settings, the screen screws up. I reinstall, then I install Bid for power (the only reason I wanted Q3A) but it wouldn't work (something about Version 4 detected when it wanted 3) :(

SO, I'm gonna forget about BFP untill I get a new GraFX card.

Thanks anyway ;)

Well ok that version 4 needed 3 is because BFP can only use a certain version of Q3A. I think it's version 1.27. It should say in the readme file. You'll need to download the upgrade somewhere. Just to warn you they have 1.32 of Q3A. BFP will run but with problems. So try to find 1.27.

I did run BFP on my old laptop which has a Rage3D chip. First that chip sucks. Really sucks. So I did a lot of research to get good drivers.

Try this (http://www.geocities.com/ziyadhosein/rprow2k.htm) web site.

Get the 5048 if you have Win2K. If you have WinXP get the 5787 drivers but this is a WinXP driver only. Ati's drivers are pretty old on there web site and not as good as these. Q3A should run fast with these drivers. Try not to run your Desktop in 32-bit color because when you start up Q3A it can cause it to show up with curupt colors.

Ohh and if your serious about a Q3A DBZ game you should look at this (http://dragonballquake.net/) website.

I remember that I had to get WickedGL to get a lot of games to work with my voodoo since it only did Glide and Direct3d. Basically wicked gl makes it use glide instead of opengl so that might work as well.

Ah BFP. I used to follow their development progress long ago, but when FUNimation threatened to sue, and they got rid of the DBZ characters, I just stopped going to their site. Don't get me wrong, the mod seems really cool, but I really wanted the DBZ stuff.

btw, you ever post on their boards? It is way to busy to keep up there.

Thanks for that Duke, although the links you suggested did not work ( :( ) I think I found one that might do the trick. Also that DBQ games looks great!

Same here. I managed to find the DBZ version of it so I decided to get Q3A off my brother.

Of course, if there was something similar for UT, I'ed get that right away, as UT runs perfectly for me.

Fingers Crossed eh?

Um, not to seem out of the loop or nothin, but what's Q3A? I noticed you were talkin about vid cards too. And someone mentioned they had a rage3D card in their laptop. Well, I have an ati Rage mobility 128, and it's actually pretty damn good. I can play WarCraft III w/ almost no lag at all.

edit: BTW go to the ati site for good drivers (someone already put up a link) or go to MS's support site, they usually have the best drivers. Or just do a google search

Q3A=Quake 3 Arena

Don't forget that I have a server running on occasion.

You can pick from multiple rendering devices for Unreal Tournament such as OpenGL, Glide, Direct3d, Software, and one other SavageX or MetalX or something similar. With Quake 3 Arena I do not believe you can.

And normally the best place to find drivers is the manufacturer's website such as ATi(http://www.ati.com/). Generally when third partys make drivers they don't always tend to be as good as the original ones. Although there are some occasions such as x3dfx's drivers for Voodoo cards in Windows 2000/XP that are compatible with DirectX 8.

Hey no prob obi. The links work for me. :( That site does go down a lot.

Ohh and no body better use the WickedGL drivers unless you have a Voodoo card. It only works on 3DFX voodoo cards. It's a special OpenGL driver optimized better then 3DFX's opengl drivers. Sometimes works better but only for voodoo cards.

I did that once last year. I got new sound drivers from the windows update, but after installing them, my sound card didn't work. So, I reinstalled what came with my card, then it worked fine.

My saying is, if it's not broken, don't fix it. And, generally use the software that came with your hardware for drivers, and if those don't work, get them from the hardware vendor, not anyone else.

On another note, Obi, it sounds like your card works but some things are acting weird with Q3A. Do you have the latest point release installed? That fixes alot of things sometimes.
