Hi everyone,

This may be a bit of a strange question, but does somebody out there know the history of the teaspoon? It's for a schoolassignment I'm working on about research and presentation. Our slightly insane teacher suggested that we would find out how the teaspoon came into being and than hand in a report of our findings. However, I've been to the library and on the internet, but couldn't find anything about the history of the teaspoon.
So if anyone can help me out please send a reply within the next twelve hours.

Greetings, Dragonlord

Ha sucks to be you. Maybe you could give your teacher some tea, and put a little Valium in it, and shove a teaspoon up his (if it's a he) ass once he's drugged.

I doubt he would give me a good grade then.
If anyone has a serious reply please send it quickly.

A lot of stuff as in NOT teaspoons. I think that they were made so you don't have as big of a spoon, useful for stirring in small dainty mugs, rather than a big spoon. Or you could go with the Valium idea, either works more or less.

The history of the teaspoon remains an enigma. The rest of the class couldn't find much information either.
Well, thanks guys.
And whenever you stir your tea, remember me.

Dang, you have to research the history of the teaspoon? That's like dang near impossible to find any research material on. Tell your teacher that you couldn't find any research material, then give him the foot like Monty Python. :D

Yes, I know it's crazy, but don't worry. The assignment is already in. I just took the little peaces of information I could find and knitted them together in a story. Now I just have to wait and see what my teacher thinks about it.
Oh and Dark_Legend where did you get that nice picture of Sarah Michelle Gellar?

Hay Dragonlord, next time you search for somthing try different views.
I searched for "history of teaspoon" got nothing but under "eating utensils history" I got tons of stuff.
Like:
The Victorian Years
Everywhere in the West specialized utensils proliferate, more in response to the Victorian fondness for bric-a-brac than to any real need. Tomato servers, sardine forks, jelly knives, and cheese scoops are among the many elaborations on the theme.
We have included a lot of items under place setting pieces. Most of which are not a part of a "modern" service. A lot of interesting items where invented in Victorian times (for example: the strawberry fork).
Today the most common place setting items are:
Teaspoon
Place Spoon
Place Fork
Salad Fork
Place Knife

Anyway hope you get a good mark on your paper.

Thanks Jemsee.
I did try different approaches by the way and came up with the same text as you did. I would have liked to find something more specific though.
