Darth Cronic and TSA would know, its mainly just junk left in the game that was either for Ura Zelda (the never released addon) or didn't make it into the game.

There's a interesting quote in the text dump that isn't in the game:

"I have you now!
In this gap between dreams and
reality, soon all that will remain
of you will be your dead body!"

I believe there are beta quests or something in the game which you can unlock via gameshark. I don't know exactly.

There is also Ura Zelda of course, although that was never released (but technically it was finished)

As far as the unfinished quests and stuff, I was told that it's stuff left over from the beta version just to test the game out. I would put a link to that post but I'll have to find it first.

If you want to find it yourself, do a post search with Zelda as the keyword... hehehe

You can get text dumps of all the Zelda games at http://loz.zeldalegends.net in the Emulation section. I remember when Mott posted his text dump though.

Theres also the 9th Level Remake of Z1. These were only on the Beta versions (of Z64 not the beta quest). Not sure that helped.

The "beta" quests will just put you in certain places (I think you ussually start in hyrule field) and can trigger things that don't normally happen in the game. There is nothing worth while to it.

Here's a site for you. It has pretty good info on the stuff. Although I have to say the guy is kind of an idiot when it comes to some things (i.e. the old screenshot with the very first Wall Master has a blue light in the middle of his hand. The guy automatically assumes this is Navi, despite the fact Navi wasn't implemented at this point and you can clearly see this in other screenshots released at the same time.. it was obviously just part of the Wall Master's design). He also doesn't recognize Turtle Rock which is so damn obvious it's sad. There are actually quite a few screenshots of the inside of Turtle rock as well (most of them have a big pool of lava with moving platforms above it that Link is hoping.. incidentally very similar to LTTP when you used the cane to create moving platforms).. But anyways, yeah, it has some good pictures and stuff, so you can look at that.

The guy says that the dungeon was the 1st dungeon of Zelda 1, not Level 9. This actually makes more sense to me. If Nintendo wanted to make something up for testing reasons they would create something simple, not something as huge and elaborate as level 9. Level 1 is nice and small, and can serve some of the basic functions needed to be tested at the time (combat, AI, layout, doors, etc etc).

It was kind of interesting tho, I was looking through his whole story thing, and he claims there was a magazine article with plot points setting the game up very similar to LTTP (i.e. Link wakes up in his Uncle's house and it's raining). I'm sure TSA would be interested in hearing that..

Yes the GameShark is awesome with Zelda. An excellent way to keep the old cart in your N64.

As for the Beta remake, TSA actually posted this on another site. I have not seen pictures but he said it was Level 9. Whatever, hmm interesting site...
