I've finally gotten around to compiling all of the beta reports together into one document. Do you want to know how long this thing is? 24 PAGES. In Word 2000 format, using mostly size 9 text.

And here's the silly part; I'm adding one more page (table of contents), and I have yet to add beta information after build 163 (no current public beta/release after that one). Then there's the missing data between ZC 1.02 and ZC 1.82 (DN got me from 1.02 back...thanks!). Plus I have to split up, format-wise, the information between 104 and 152 to keep all of one build's information on the same page (I did this already with the older builds below 104, as I had to wait for AGN to return to update the missing information I could find).

So here's my question. This is currently a 136 KB file, in Word. If I post it when I'm done, who will download it? This will include every beta I can get information on (up to 163; the rest are in the beta reports (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52109) thread), including the now-infamous build 157 and some other secret info from prior to build 152. This is now, in every sense of the word, a historical document, back to the days of Zelda DX.

Who wants it? :D

Presuming many of you will be interested (if not, oh well), I'll post it sometime in the near future. If you can help fill in any gaps, however, feel free to assist me in completing this file.

A history file to show progress is a must have for an archive.

Could be an interesting read. I remember getting a chuckle out of PM's retro ZC page.

"ZC allows you to have 1560 16x16 tiles."

Why would anyone need more than 1560 tiles?!? :p

I believe it was ol' Bill Gates himself that once said no one would ever need more than 640 KB of RAM. Of course, that was probably before he was in league with the memory chip makers... :naughty:

*glances at TCoL's tileset*

Hmm.. 1560. That's roughly 5 tile pages, yes?

Let's see now.... How many pages does my incomplete set take? 63 out of 125. Roughly 16,000 tiles.

*needs more than 1560 tiles.* :p

I'd like to see that, would be really cool (beta reports)

Yes, ZC has come a long way from it's beginnings. ZC wasn't supposed to be a program that people would end up sacrificing their souls to, just a simple program to make zelda clones.

Good thing Zelda DX name was dropped, that game is MY territory now!

While you're here, PM, do you still have the info between ZC 1.02 and ZC 1.82? DN stumbled upon 1.02 and prior, as he told me; besides that, I have a huge gap...

I thought the history.txt file in 1.84 (and I think 1.90) had all that in it. Or are you asking about something else?

Oh, that's the history.txt file? The Readme had back to 1.82, I believe, but I didn't think there was a history.txt file. I knew I'd seen it somewhere before; must've been there.

I'll investigate this 2nite. :)

I just read the history, has back to when it was called "Zelda Clone"

I'll post the history file since I have it(I didn't delete all the 1.84 stuff, just quests and main program).

Yep, that's the one. So the readme.txt for 1.84 had 1.84's stuff, and this history.txt had everything before it.

I know 1.82 was in the Readme, as well; it's already in my file.

Thanks a lot, guys. Lots of updating to do when I get home. And I only start at 10 2morrow! W00t! :D

(Now to find and fill in the rest of the blanks...might have one or two betas with missing information...)

As for something interesting, note the version number change, from 1.02 to 1.60... And today, it's all builds of 1.92.

That reminds me, did we ever get a straight answer as to what the misc styles thingy was in the Weapons data? You know, the thing that's mostly used in the BS games? What did that do again?

Here is what I know.

1 (when used for swords) makes the sword beam explosion sprite flicker using the "FlshCset" color.

3 (when used for swords) makes the sword beam explosion sprite flicker using the "FlshCset" color, and it uses 2 frames.

45 (when used for magic or fireballs with "AutoFlsh" on) It makes them cycle through 3 different Csets.
