View Full Version : Enemy health and sword damage. How does it work?

I am currently writing a walkthrough for DoY, but I seem to have a problem. I'm writing an enemies list that shows the amount of hearts each enemy has, so they can calculate how many hits it will take with certain swords. My only problem is this...how much damage does a level 1 sword do to an enemy, level 2 sword...etc. Also, how much life does a like-like have? I can't calculate because level 1 sword takes 9, 2 takes 5, 3 takes 3, and 4 takes two. However, I thought it had 4.5 hearts, but with a level 4 sword that maybe takes 2 hearts, it would require 3 instead of 2. If level 1 sword takes away 1 heart, it is the same problem. Level 4 sword needing 3 hits instead of two. Can someone help me out?

Hmm...maybe the swords keep doubling in power: wooden(1), white(2), magic(4), and master(8)?

I think it would be 9. The white sword would do double damage so it's HP would go 7,5,3,1,Dead or 5 hits. With the next sword up it would go 5,1,Dead, or 3 hits. The Master Sword would go 1, Dead or 2 hits. So you were right, just figuring it wrong.

Okay, I get it now. Thanks very much!

No problem.

Yes, one hit with the wooden sword does 1 hit point of damage, and there are 2 hp in a heart.

You'll notice that even your own weapons, backfired upon yourself by marking the appropriate quest rules, follow this system.
- Candle flame: does 1 hp of damage to enemies, and half a heart of damage to you
- Wand magic: 2 hp to enemies, 1 heart to you
- Regular bomb: 4 hp to enemies, 2 hearts to you
- Super bomb: 16 hp to enemies, 8 hearts to you

I suppose armor does the same.

Example:
No armor: No protection
Blue ring: 1/2 damage protection.
Red ring: 1/4 damage protection.
Gold ring: 1/8 damage protection.

Thanks for the extra information about magic and such as well.

Exactly. :)

As do the arrows' attack power: wooden = 2, silver = 4, golden = 8.

Someone said the arrow's attack power is wooden 2 silver 6 golden 12...Are you sure about that?

No, I'm pretty sure I got them right.

If they were the values you listed, then blue Lynels (having 6 hit points) would die in one hit from the silver arrow, and Like Likes (having 9 hit points) would die in one hit from the golden arrow.

But if you actually try that out, you'll see that that doesn't happen. ;)

Wow. With info like that, this will be one hell of a complete walkthrough.

Be prepared for a monster to be unleashed, boys. :D

I'm Looking forward to it. Actually, I am pretty dependent in matters like this, despite my ridiculous modem. I would be more than happy to contribute by first writing anything on a document at home and then copy/pasting it to a provided space. Just say the word, (or better yet PM me!) and I'm there!

Just be aware that I cannot be on 100% of the time. (sadly.)
