I just got the news. My great-uncle died last night. We knew he probably wasn't going to live but we didn't know when. They took him off the respirator last night. At least he got to live a good and long life.

I know what it's like to lose family members. As a matter of fact, I've seen death happen right in front of my eyes. I'm very sorry to hear that.

Its better to pull the plug on someone if they're forced to have something like a machine to keep them alive, but have them stuck in their death beds if there's no chance of survival without it.

Well, they had just put him on the respirator because he had numerous illnesses that lead to him being comatose and the need for the respirator. It was uncertain whether he would have lived or not.
