I hate to admit it, but the blue one looks uglier than the original. And with that hard drive, it looks like they could send XBox flying off the other end of the see-saw. ;)

So what is this supposed to be anyway? A buffed up PS2?

The point of the Hard Drive is more storage space for a memory card, not to mention the abilty to download carp when the PS2 starts it's internet run. Duh.

Yeah, but what kind of HDs are those? I know that the PS2 supports two kinds of HDs, each with their own set of uses that are restricted to their kinds of HDs. One is the HD that works like the X-box, that is, as a depository for game data and caching. The other is like the one that comes with the Linux kit, and is only compatible when working with the linux kit(using the PS2 as a linux box, for example).

Well it's about damn time! I'm tired of having to make CDs of my SNES/Genesis/and whatever else roms to play on my PS2. Finally, I can just store 'em on the HD! ;)

$269 ??

That better drop substantially before it hits the US, that's insane. What the hell are you doing Sony...

He uses his inherit telekinetic abilities.

...

Okay, not really. He probably just has his PS2 set up as a Linux (gag) box.

There are emulators in existance for emulation on your PS2 ;)

SNES, Genesis, DC, and SMS so far. I may be missing one.

All you need to do is burn them and your roms to a PS2 format CD-R (which you will have to create yourself) and there you go ;)

Documentation on how to create your own PS2 discs is included. ;)

Go Here (http://snes-station.emuunlim.com/) for information. Links to all other emulators and sites for PS2 are in the "Links" section.

Ok... I'm still a bit smokey on this...

I have a CDR filled with roms and emulators, but I guess I need a different kind of CD and the emulators I have will not work?

The sites a bit hard to follow for our stoner pal ;)

Yeah it is at first, once you wade through the garbelled mess though it's rather easy.

What that site doesn't tell you is... you're either going to need a mod chip or a gameshark2 to be able to boot the CD.

There are 2 ways you can make your CD. One way for a modchip, the other if you have no modchip but have a gameshark2.

Read this Document on how to make a CD-R based on whether you have a modchip or not. It's step by step, and pretty easy. It took me 3 tries before I got it right though.
How to make PS2 CD-R (http://snes-station.emuunlim.com/snesstation_cd_walkthrough.pdf)
(it's a PDF file so I hope you have acrobat to read it with)

Create your CD based on whether you have a mod chip or not. When you're done:

Mod chip = boot it the way your mod chip requires you to boot PS2 backups

No Mod chip = Use Gameshark2 swap method to get the CD to run.

Anything else, just ask ;)
