I'm going to Myrtle Beach, SC from August 3 to August 10. Anybody ever been there/live there? If so, what's it like?

Myrtle Beach is a very popular get-away for where I live (Charlotte, NC). Its a great spot, if you like touristy areas and don't mind crowds. There is tons of stuff to do, plenty of dinner theatres, golf cources, water parks, shops (go to the Broadway at the Beach outdoor mall), and more. The actual beach is nice as well. I've been there many times. If you're looking for a wide open, natural beach thats free from crowds and commercialism you should look somewhere else though.

It's a nice place, if you don't mind spending more time away from the beach than at the beach, like my family does when we go down there (usually for New Year's).

It's an ok beach, but lots of people. But if you're into put-put or any of those other great beach activities, you're in luck.

My grandmother lives about 15 minutes from there. I like it a lot, it has lots of good memories from our family yearly trips. It all depends on what you like, but I think it's really pretty and there's fun stuff to do.

I used to go down practically every summer. Be sure to eat at a chik-fil-a or Johnny Rockets down there, because they're good and you won't find them anywhere else. If you go to 'Broadway at the Beach', the Hard Rock Cafe is good, but the Teddy bear factory/shop always has a line. If you go putt-putting there, don't go on the viking course, it sucks. The dragon one is good though.

Ummm...be sure to wear sunscreen and snocones on the beach are a must. If you want to collect sand dollars on the beach, the best time to go is to walk down the beach at like 5:30 AM right after a storm, because that's when they wash onto shore.

Also, FIREWORKS! They're legal if you're over 15, and those are a lot of fun to set off at night.

That about covers my advice...

Have fun!

Wait a minute, I do believe you can find Chic-fil-a's other places than there.

I edited the post after I saw his post to include the South Carolina part. I figured most people knew where Myrtle Beach was.

Anyway, sounds like I'll have fun. See you guys in a week!
