It's too bad the forum search is disabled, cause I made a topic about how I fixed my blinking NES a while back. Here ya go: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dsullo/nes.htm
Though his entire page is interesting, the page you really want is this one: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dsullo/nesrepair.htm It tells you how to install a new connector. You can buy a new connector from him for $19.50, or you can order your own newly designed one from http://www.mcmelectronics.com Their's is only like $7 (but they rush shipped mine for 2 day arrival even though I didn't ask, for a total of $15 with shipping)

Hmm, a blinking power light though, even when the game is in right? Must be the connectors on the system like Vegeta said, or its the games. The games I originally got new like Zelda 1 work fine at startup, but used games I bought from EB Gameworld take some time to get working.

I blow on them, them wipe the bottom with my finger sometimes that works. If not then it's the system

I get achohol and clean the connectors with que tips. It works but for a sort while. The best thing to do is take apart the machince and clean the connectors. Try pulling each metal connector out since over time they get bent in. I don't know why but blowing on the cartridges works sometimes.

There is a few things you can try but they all root back to the bad connector Nintendo used but having it a loading bay rather than top loading. If you know how you should take a gamegenie apart and use it to make a new connector.
I'll try what vegeta suggested. since I've always kept my games clean with alcohol

Never blow into NES games or use your finger! Just get a bunch of Q-tips, and some rubbing alcohol, and wipe off the connector parts of the game (the metal pieces in the slot), and dry them with clean Q-tips. Or, get a kit that can clean cart games. I got one for $10 at this used game store
I was really surprised how dirty some of my NES and SNES games were.
Clean games + good connector = good non blinking NES
