Afterburner GBA light upgrade.

I ordered one today, and I understand how much work is involved in installing it, so don't bother lecturing or any crap like that....

Just curious if anyone else here has done this upgrade or has seen a finished upgrade firsthand.

Haven't done it myself, but I plan on ordering one soon. I don't know how on Earth to get those stupid screws out of the GBA; I tried using a 1/16" screwdriver like they said, and it didn't work. :shrugs: Let me know if it works; I really want one.

What about battery-life?.. does it effect it much?

It's not supposed to affect battery life much. Check http://www.tritonlabs.com/ for details.

Also, Eckels, look at www.lik-sang.com. They supposedly send a GBA screwdriver with kits you buy from them. :)

are you using the sears 1/16th flathead? A bunch of places I've read have said that that's the only one that works right.... and it's too late now, i already ordered my kit directly from the manufacturer... it's ok, after i remove the screws i plan to replace them with phillips. (They fit the same size as the screws in an old NES or SNES controller)

i installed one for my GBA about a week ago. it's not that difficult at all. you just kinda unscrew it and slide it in. i never used my worm light since...

Yeah, I did use a 1/16" screwdriver, just push down little hard! But I pissed off that I got few dust dots inside my GBA's screen. Oh well, It is great work!

What is that thing? Is it a light that you install?

it is a backlight and i have one in mine and i dont really like it that much because it leaves a glare on the screen around the corners which is really iritating.

For you lazy people, I think there is a place where you can order a GBA pre-installd with the light already inside of it. But like they said, it's not that difficult to install anyway.

I installed it on my clear-colored GBA. It looks great, has zero glare, and only reduces battery life abut 30-60 minutes. Not only that, but since my gba is a translucent purple, the glow radiates from my GBA itself, and it looks *really* cool in the dark.

The install is fairly difficult, there are several surfaces that absolutly nothing can touch, and the points that you have to solder are rather small.

eh.. it's not that I am lazy, but rather cautious. I'd be way to afraid to screwup my GBA.
