0-Main layer
1+2- Goes over Link but not over Flying enemies
3+4-Goes over both
5+6-Goes over everything

You make say a screen with a windmill, on that screen you make only the base not the mill part, the thing that spins around.
Then on a second screen you make the spinning part exactly where you want it to go on the other screen.

Screen 1
xxxxxxxxxxxxx X=nothing
xxxxxmmmx M= Mill
xxxxxmamx A=Axis where the spinning thing will spin.
xxxxxmmmx
xxxxxxxxxxxx
Screen 2
xxxxxxxxxxxxx X=nothing
xxxxxxxsxxxx S= Spinning thing
xxxxxs a sxxx A=Axis where the spinning thing will spin.
xxxxxxxsxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Then link the two using layer linking and ta-da!!

Hey i'll try now :D

Ok lets say you want to make rain go on your screen. Go to a blank screen then cover it with the rain tile. After that go back to the screen you want the rain on and the best option would be either 5 or 6 so that the rain covers everything.

Like EWild said:

1-2 layer option=Covers Link but not any enemies that hover or fly.

3-4 layer option=Covers both Link and the flying enemy

5-6 layer option=Covers everything on the screen.

So basically if your doing rain or thunder or snow, choose layer 5.

(Basic: Go to Data-Layers-Pick the layer option you want(EX:1,2,3,4,5),Type the screen number of the rain or snow or thunder you covered in-Press ok)

Maybe its hard to explain, but I hope you ZH and laughing get what im saying.:D

i get it now. So basically thats how you make a solid rain effect. Neato.

And also make a screen with the splashing tiles. You make two screens, one for the rain one for the splashing and you can have many screens with rain and it'll use only two screens.

1: Solid "Black" (Only if there is a total transparency in a spot on all layers and sprites)

2: Background (Layer 0)

3: LAYER 1!

4: LAYER 2!

5: NON-FLYING SPRITE LAYER! (That includes LINK!)

6: Layer 3

7: Layer 4

8: Flying Sprite layer (Bats, boomerang, arrow, etc.)

9: Layer 5

10: Layer 6

What on earth was the "Everything else" you thought Layers 5 and 6 went over, that 3 and 4 supposedly didn't?

I think he means the actually ground, ground sprites, and flying sprites. Everything else is the ground, i guess.
