When you walk into a "Gambling" place, are the payouts predetermined in a loop? Or is it purely random?

i would think its random because i gamble all the time and i cant find any pattern.

On the original NES version, gambling for the 1st time after turning power on, choosing the one on the right was a sure win. Maybe I was just lucky, but it worked everytime I turned power off and on again (didn't work with Reset)

It would be nice if the gamble game was customisable or if there would be more gamble games.

That would be cool, 30% chance of winning and total of rupies 50 or something like that

The question is, how did DN program it in, and how was it in the original game?

It's possible that it was engineered to make you lose lots of money, only occasionally letting you win, and "cheating" by switching the spot out when you chose it. Or it could be that there was just a pattern that was long enough to avoid repetitions. Or maybe it was just totally random... It'll take some rom hacking to figure it out. And that is something I don't know how to do.

From playing with the rom, I'd say it was randomly generated when you picked a coin.
If you save just before you choose a coin, reload, and pick the same coin again, it won't necessarily be the same.

It's random and generated when Link touches one of the rupees.
