I wanted to play vs my brother, so I go to make a copy and I get an error that says, well who cares what it says. Is this a known problem?

Well, the error message is kinda important, how else can we know what the problem is?

It might be like Quake 3. Each Quake 3 cd has a code, and you can't play on a network where someone else is already running Quake 3 with the same code.

Actually, I went on google and found that everybody has the same problem, so I opted for a no-CD crack. It seems impossible to copy the CD without getting a "runbuffer" error, but I didn't really experiment with different burning software. Luckily, the crack worked like a charm ;) .

You can burn the CD but you need a certain EXE file to play on Bnet... It works on just singleplayer....

I always burn software like games at 1x or 2x, otherwise errors are bound to happen.

ie: I burned FFVII for the PC from my friend, and the first disc was screwed up cause I burned it too fast. It would only let me play so far and then it would just hang up. So I had to re-burn it.

Nevermind... Found it...

I am rarely going to say this...

...

Go and buy extra copies of the damn game. Blizzard worekd hard enough on WC3 to bring you such a kickass game, you should at least tell them how much you like it by buying it.

I only say that for a select few games, BTW...

Well I burn games, 20$ ones, but not 79.99$ ones! Blizzard worked hard so give them your money. The ironic thing is that I'll probably end up burning it anyways.

You'll need a NO-CD crack, and likely a Keygen so you guys don't have the same key as that might prevent lan play.

No more spawn copies for Blizzard games?

Probably not because of piracy or wanting more money or something. :p

No more spawn because a lot of people care about multiplayer now. A lot of the purpose of the spawn copy on the original Diablo was to market the then brand-new Battle.net to players, but now it's established, and many people care more about the online part, so there's no reason to give you the spawn option when they could try forcing you to buy it.

No, Spawn copies have been around long before Diablo (WarCraft II at least had them). It's just a way to play w/ your friends w/o everyone having to buy a CD. They probably got rid of it because there is too much data in WarCraft 3 to transfer w/o a cd (not to mention to prevent hacking/pirating of course)

Warlock, Wc3 doesn't actually use the CD for anything at all during the game. A spawn wouldn't have been any trouble really technically speaking.

I dunno then.. it's probably just a hacking issue I guess..

More than likely that was what they must have been concerned about. That or a we want more money issue. ;p

I'm for the former. Blizzard knew that spawn was a popular option, and I doubt that it would have been removed for no good reason other than money.

Enough people are going to buy WC3 anyway... :P

And either way, if you want to play with spawned copies, go play Starcraft. The classic still is awesome, and there isn't any steep system requirements either.

Translation: Old machines + NIC cards = Badass Starcraft action. Because of this, as of right now, a five player Starcraft match is possible on our LAN.

Sorry, you're right; War2 included that spawn, too. But I still think the only reason Blizzard really took it out is because they could make more money. And the internet was really steamrolling in America during the heyday of BOTH games, as I recall, so I still think it was included anywhere they put it to hype battle.net. and multiplayer in general, and was taken out, once again, to get more money. God, gramar sucks, need bed. Agh.
