100 megabauds? Either you're exagerating, or you're connected through fibre-optic backbone, my cablemodem service, which is about mid-range for broadband, only does around 650-750 kilobauds/sec

thats just the theoretical throughput rate of your ethernet card, no biggie, thats not real throughput speeds

Try downloading some shit and watch the speed (but don't use kazaa, just your browser)

EDIT: if I check that same dialog box at my comp. it says 10mb/sec, although my sattelite provider limits our access to 768k per second (which is what we paid for) and it rarely reaches that, usually at about 200-300kb/sec. But that's still a whole lotta more fastness than dail-up. :D

*thinks*

That speed would have been useful the other day, for that 3/4 of hour download... (That was a bit crazy. 45 minutes last, 10 minutes last, 35 minutes last, 9 minutes last, WTF?)

Click here (http://www.toast.net/performance) for a site that allows you to measure your actual throughput.

Also remember, no matter how fast your connection may be, you can only download shit as fast as the slowest connection in the chain. Back in the day, were you ever forced to download songs from users with 56K (or slower) modems over Napster? I did a couple of times, and it wasn't fun.

By the way, I get the message "connected at 100 Mbps" also... with your everyday cable modem.

I usually get 500 k a second. I once git it down to 4 bytes per second though.

I get 160kb a sec down on very good days. Ussually it maxes arond 140kb a sec down. My up is only about 16kb a sec up. That doesn't change really.
