www.panicware.com you can download the free 'pop up stopper' which works wonders for IE users. It's also really good for surfing those free message boards, or websites with 'cjb' in the name (like mine) So try the image in my thread to test out the software once it's installed ;)

Or don't use IE.
Opera has a built in pop-up stopper(in the File -> Quick Preferences menu). The fact is most of these third party pop-up stoppers include spyware; some are clean though.

If you're talking about Opera, you can download it for free, but you'll have to put up with an ad banner. Of course all you need to be rid of the banner is a registration key, and key gens can be found on Yahoo.

AnalogX POW! works fine for me and it's free (plus no spyware). Download it here (http://download.com.com/3000-2381-8156476.html?tag=lst-0-1).

The program keeps track of how many pop-ups it kills... since I installed it (I forget exactly when) it has killed 1331 pop-ups.

(By the way, for all of you hooked on that "elite-speak" or whatever you call that "let's try to be cool and replace letters with numbers and symbols" garbage, those four numbers above are meant to be read as "one thousand three hundred thirty-one.")

Opera won't fuck up your system. It's a hell of a lot better than IE. It's plenty worth it.
