Building on to my previous post, I've now set up a payment plan and have purchased, for roughly $220...
A Intel 850 form (?) socket 478 mainboard, with onboard sound, 3d video, and ethernet. 6 PCI slots, 1 4x AGP slot, 1 CNR slot, 4 DIMM memory slots ( 2 PC133 SDRAM, 2 DDR ).
An Intel Celeron with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz, a standard ATX case with 4 5.25" bays and quite a few 3.5" bays, a 550 watt power supply with extra power cables, a SCSI controller card, an 80mm case fan kit and a 120mm case fan kit, heatsink and fan for the processor.
I should be up and running with my old geForce 4 MX 420, my 30GB and 40GB drives, dual monitors and a borrowed CD-R. Then it's Mandrake install time.
I don't know about you, but living without my computer is very easy. I'm only on my parents for about 30 minutes a day, and I have so many other things to do. I'm definately happy that I'm getting my new one repaired and upgraded, but it is better without one.
