Here are some obvious reasons for AGN slowing down at certain times or when you are loading certain topics:
1. Animated Signatures: Not mentioning any names but there are a lot of people using sigs to make their Navis do actions ranging from sword slashing to jumping around. Also there are some people that have animated GIFs (large pics of non-Navis) in their signatures.
2. Animated Avatars: The board default as it was back when I joined in 2001 had no animated avatars. Not until Cyclone's Kirby avatars (which did really nothing to the boards) came along did we have animated AVs.
3. Limited Bandwidth: Easy to explain. With all the crap stated above, the bandwidth is being hogged.
4. Quest Screenshots: Some of these take forever to load primarily because of the server that they are stored on, nothing to do with AGN, but still slows down board loading times.
Now, I understand you can turn off sigs and avatars, but still, that doesn't inprove overall loading time for anyone. All the stuff is still stored in the bandwidth and on the server that AGN uses so it isn't gonna make a difference whether I shut off avatars or signatures.
