Well, Selah and I are creating a quest, using build 162 and Orion's Z3 tiles. So far, we are mostly just making an intro map and such, but I can tell you righ tnow..this game will be MASSIVE. I'm doing most of the ZCing, but Selah is helping with testing, enhancing, and criticizing the quest. So far, definate land is Colash. The hero will hav Z3 link sprite (or maybe a blakc mage, haven't decided yet) but wont be called Link (Amal is the name of choice so far.) Very small so far (Selah pointed out to me that, as of now, our quest's main objective is to kill the four octoroks) but It's gettn gbigger,
BTW, when linkwlaks up, it shows his looking/walking down sprite. Same with the other directions....does anyoone have a template or something, so we can see where links positions are supposed to be?

Might I suggest using the "No guy fires" quest rule?

Ive got a suggestion too, and it's something I see ALOT of when people are designing using LttP tiles. The design of most of your overworld screens are, well, horrid. You gotta make the terrain look more natural- whens the last time you walked outside and saw a perfectly square cliff, or a bunch of bushes sitting in a neat little row? I think bearing three things in mind would vastly improve the look of your overworld :
1) Rough it up. Nature abhors a clean edge. Instead of a flat line of bushes, put some bushes, various kinds of trees, and maybe a rock or two. Instead of a straight cliff, make little jutting parts, make it weave back and forth, maybe have a smaller elevation poke out here and there.
2) Avoid large open spaces at all costs. For instance, in the first screenshot you have a HUGE are covered with nothing but brown road tiles. Yuck, yuck yuck. Mix it up with some grass poking through, or use the little rock dodoad tiles here and there. Same with grass- use four or five copies of the pokey grass or flower tiles.
3) Mix it up! Use more different types of tiles on one screen. Things like extra trees and extra grass types are easy to make on your own if you want them, or you can import them from other quests, but really Orion's set has enough. Just use more tiles on each screen.

Good luck with your quest :)

Couldn't have put it better, C-Dawg :D. That's one of the things that makes Lttp's overworld so good.

Need I even mention the caves... :disgust:

Its great that you agree, ZeldaLord, but dont you think that quote is a bit long for your sig? If you must second the motion, how about you just shorten it to something like "3 Overworld Rules : 1) Rough it up 2) Avoid large spaces and 3) Use a variety of tiles" or just link back to this page?

First unless those trees are on fire use the "no guy fire" rule.
What C-Dawg said is also true.
And that cave is gross. I mean why not just put a wall of mud or something around the screen?
Other than that the quest looks good.

I agree, I'll change it now, but I, like you, am sick of badly-done quests like that.

EDIT: That okay? If not I'll shorten it more.

bah....its still alpha, and a LOT of thing s will change...
btw, those caves are temporary till orions next release...the tileset im using is still in development , after all. Those screens were rushed cause of K-Teclis....

You exceeded your bandwidth. You should convert the pictures to gif format so they're not so big. That way, more people can see them before you use up all your bandwidth.

ZL, it's longer than MY sig. That's an accomplishment.

Trim it a bit more. :D
