View Full Version : A request of the sun.

I have been having trouble finding pictures of the sun that show it at different times so that it looks like it is rotating -

ones like that^.
this site has them http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/ , but only for 4 timeperiods so I can't actually make it rotate if I animate them.
Doesanyone know where I can find pices that show the sun fully rotating?

the sun doesn't rotate... the planets rotate around the sun...

Yeah, like that, I tried an image search on google but I got nothing of relevance. I was hoping for one in more detail like the pic I posted, but thanks for the help tygore, I'll search using different words now. ;)

Yes, but from a perspective on earth, the sun LOOKS like it's rotating, so the image is feasable.

Actually, I think the sun does spin - it rotates on it's axis like the earth and all other spherical objects in our solarsystem - I.e. the moon. It could spin theoretically but it's too hard to tell as all other things spin around it...

The sun does indeed rotate. But as it's not a solid object, it doesn't rotate as a unit... the rotation is faster at some parts of the sun than others.

Dude, that pic kicks ass. I'm going to edit it with Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and make something even cooler out of it. Thanks for the pic.

Did you all know the sun had an eruption recently that was like bigger than the size of earth? Ouch.

A good site to try is this one (http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/shine/suntoday.html). They have lots of pics of the sun and also links to the different sites where they got the pics.
