Can a .avi become a .gif?

Well can you? If so what do you need? I made a .avi file I like to call "The many faces of video games" (I got bored this afternoon, and all I could find to do was grab my camera take pics of some Nintendo Beanies. Then transfer it to my computer, pull out photomorph and make a movie of Beanies morphing into each other.) I would like to add this to my sig, but I can't because only picture files can be uploaded to geocities. So I would like to know Is there any possible way to make it into a gif? Thank you if you had enough time to read this whole very long thread. Now I will see how long this takes to go to the bottom of the GD board. Once again Thank you for your time.

If you find a program called Ulead Gif animator, you can quite easilly make it an animated gif. I can't hel you with links sorry, try goolge. :)
