I found a german site where one can obtain Zelda Classic.

http://www.downloads.ch/files/Games/Adventure/835.asp

This got me thinking. How many places can you find (perferably forign) that has Zelda Classic avalable to download? State (if you can) if it's 1.84 or 1.90 or perhaps a beta...

EDIT: Translated the page. Thanks to http://babelfish.altavista.com

"The PC version of the best adventure play of all times.

Zelda Classic is nearly accurately a copy of the original. Again however one can provide Quests, creatures, articles, etc.. The spielstaende can be also stored during the play!

One must have that!"

I found 1.84 on some foreign site a while back. Copies of ZC are all over the place!

They are, and there are just random versions they have and they never bother to find a later one. They don't understand the idea of "updating".

I'm not sure how it fits as 'strategy', but oh well.
At least it's more up to date than most of these sites, it's beta 104!

I am kind of glad that it is being distributed so widely. Imagine how many custom quests could be introduced to the database. But only a couple will be of the Revenge2 Quality. We could be the base of the whole entire game! The Rulers of a large sect of humanity! THE GODS OF ALL ZC GAMERS!!! RULERS OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!! HA HA HA!! *coughs* It is a very good game.

Yeah, in theory thats great, but without these people coming to the forums and keeping tabs on the latest public version of ZQuest, any quests they make have a good chance of being made with older versions.

I believe Zeldaclassic.com has links to 1.90(which I doubt anybody on the forums uses anymore) and beta 104, which is supposedly the last public version of 1.92 with Zquest in it, but then we have an unknown number of members with access to beta 152(with ZQuest) because of the custom quest contest. Then I could mention actual beta leaks as well...

It currently looks like a mess to me, though I haven't been overly concerned since I don't really play quests or make them...

I think that after the contest is over, DN maight want to think about releasing 152 to the public, so that we would all have the same version again.

I sure hope so. It's anoying that most new tilesets are being released for 152 and i can't see them. Like the mistic land tileset. I heard it's really good but I can't see it for myself.

From that site: "...a whole community was created that revolves around this program in a place called the AGN forums. Right now these forums are down, but keep checking the main page for news of it being back up. This program put these forums on the internet map..."

I find that humorous for some reason. :D

It's obvious this person used a digital camera, or something, for the screenshots; I see the glare of the computer screen. I guess he doesn't realize that he can take screenshots with the program itself. :)

Hmm, my guess is that in the end, DN will eventually give version 2 out to the contestants, I mean from the reports, it looks like work on ZC has been substancially increased. :)

Yes, DN has been rolling out betas this weekend. Ironically, I've been working on a quest, myself. Keep your eyes peeled, people.
